E-Learning Everywhere - YouTube + Typeform
I am a YouTube junkie, I’ll admit it. I have changed my toilet’s plumbing and made sopapilla pancakes…I have learned bits and pieces of foreign languages, hundreds of Photoshop tricks, and in reference to this assignment, I learned how to get started using Typeform.
YouTube is a platform full of e-learning opportunities and I am going to focus on one lesson that was powerful for me, from a business perspective: Getting Started with Typeform.
This learning provides an asynchronous opportunity for anyone to watch, learn, take notes, re-watch, and learn some more because there is no set time, like with college classes online - some meet at set times (synchronous) and others are self-paced (asynchronous). Also, this provides a constructivist approach with the learner using their own self guided pace based on their experience - aka, watch then perform…watch again if needed. They may also use this as a way to discover new information using search tactics off of what they learn in one video.
The e-learning theories on which my review contained: Asynchronous & Constructivism
The authoring technology used: Multiple – Graphic Design Software (possibly Power Point), built in screensharing technology, and audio voice over – potentially recorded separate from presentation and then integrated.
Some instructional design aspects:
Who is the intended audience? Marketing professionals, Web Designers
What learner needs it serves? Getting started with the basics of the Typeform platform and extends into troubleshooting a multitude of issues.
What are the intended outcomes? Successful use of the Typeform platform for a variety of outcomes – surveys, lead generation, and sales to name a few.
How is learning assessed? This is potentially unknown to the e-learning platform, YouTube/Typeform, unless the user’s pixel data is used to track the frequency of which they return and watch the same video. It is possible the learner comments on the video to provide their feedback, that would demonstrate success of learning.
Overall visual effectiveness of the e-learning: This platform, given the right material, has been incredibly effective for me as a designer and asynchronous learner. The specific video I reference in this assignment is one that allowed me to help a customer accomplish a few goals they had been working several years to accomplish. I also appreciate the dual coding nature of most of the videos provided, on YouTube, by Typeform. It helps to have the slideshow alongside the audio.
I have embedded the video that I reference in my review, see it below:
Thank you for your visit and for reading my E-Learning Everywhere assignment. Until next time….~Fitz
